This was the first one, in the place where it all happened, and remains the big one, the Big Kahuna of Pride celebrations in the USA. NYC Pride justifiably claims pride of place as the oldest and most revered Pride in the world. Being the home of Stonewall, the event that sparked the beginning of the modern gay liberation movement, it's easy to see why Gotham's Pride Parade is considered the ür-Pride. Winding down Manhattan, the parade is a spectacle of colorful floats (complete with hot boys dancing in the skimpiest of outfits), plenty of music, community groups, the city's and state's leading politicians, and marchers from around the world. The annual PrideFest provides a great place to look at LGBT New York in all her glory: bears, twinks, leathermen and muscleboys, all cruising each other while they ostensibly take in the dozens of open-air booths offering everything from slutwear to applications for the NYC Police Department. NYC Pride is a magical time, when the city that never sleeps comes even more alive with a contagious rainbow fervor. The best DJs, hottest go-go dancers and legions of tourists ready to party in some of the city's world-famous nightclubs make this an unforgettable celebration that you will find yourself dreaming about long after the party is over.
