When multi-platinum recording artist Randy Jones was tripping the light fantastic as one of The Village People - Randy was the "Cowboy" - he wasn’t just igniting the nightlife culture...he was disco! "That was a very special time...especially in nightlife," Jones describes that decade which spanned the 70’s into the 80’s. "It can never be reproduced." But if anyone has the right combination of talent, credibility and personality to give us a glimpse behind the velvet rope of Studio 54 and recreate the glamor of those days, Randy Jones is the man who was in the thick of it.

Beginning on Sunday, May 6, Randy Jones begins a stint at Splash as the host of "Sunday Night Fever" and will be proving that no one can stop the music.

As a significant contributor of popular culture within one of the most influential groups of the disco era, Jones was adding to the palette and texture of the most provocative age in New York City history. "You never knew what was going to happen - there was always some excitement," Randy revealed. Everyone wanted to get into the most star-studded and exclusive clubs in town. Studio 54, Xenon, and the Palladium always had lines up the block, which Jones was able to by-pass with his pop-star celebrity.

"I’m honored that my friends over at Splash approached me about doing ’Sunday Night Fever,’" but really is there any another gay music icon that they could have asked to host a night of frolic and mischief that is set to pay homage to one of the greatest eras in club culture? Randy Jones is the undisputed leading disco expert able to head such a event. "I had been looking for a larger living room anyway," he confessed, but in all honesty, for Randy it is about catching lightning in a bottle, and celebrating great music and fun!

"I want to see everybody there, who wants to see me! I like my friends and like to make new friends - this is a nice fit for me." If we’re lucky enough Randy will be convinced to take to the stage and drive the crowd into overload with a rendition of one of the many hits he performed as part of the legendary Village People. "I got my own little setlist - I might jump in up there and give an hour of what I like to listen to."

Jones has also promised that if he must, he’ll rattle the cages of some of his friends from the Studio 54 days and enlist them to come out to reinvigorate the dance floor. "I’m sure they’ll love to come join me down at Splash and regale us with stories of the disco era."

The legendary space located at 50 West 17th Street, Splash has been renovated and fully equipped to bring the disco into the 21st Century. All you need to bring are your boogie shoes, Randy Jones has got the rest! "Sunday Night Fever" hosted by Randy Jones launches on May 6 at Splash with disco classics beginning at 8pm and it’s FREE before 10pm.
