Mystery novelist Frances Richter invites the GLBT community to enjoy the debut of her new mystery series--and to help fund GLBT causes at the same time.

Richter’s new novel, Friend of the Firm, follows the adventures of lesbian detective Sheldon Bailey, whose efforts on behalf of a gorgeous, attractive female client accused of murder lead her into hazy terrain where the personal and the professional collide.

As Bailey makes her way toward the truth (and does her best to keep the faith at home with her life partner), fresh leads emerge that bring her to doubt the innocence of the accused.

With the publication of Friend of the Firm, Richter made a deal last summer to donate 20 percent of the sales of her book at Charlotte Pride to the Charlotte Business Guild.

From there, Richter extended her charitable work, donating copies of Friend of the Firm to the libraries of colleges and GLBT Community Centers.

Now Richter has hit on a way to keep supporting the community through sales of her book: starting November 1, part of the proceeds from sales of Friend of the Firm will go to a variety of charities, including women’s shelters and GLBT organizations.

Says the press release, "[Richter] is especially interested in selecting organizations that provide support to neglected and abused children, battered women, the homeless, minority groups, and those who promote enlightenment and inclusion."

More information on the charitable giving plan is available at the author’s Web site.

Friend of the Firm, available from Moonfest Publishing, sells for $15 ($17 in Canada).
